In 2022, wette mille was founded by me, Mette Søs Wille. I grew up on Fanø, where the wind is just always winding, the waves are always waving, and it feels as if just about everything and nothing is possible at the exact same time. My dad, spent years collecting amber by the waving waves in the winding wind.

When I began making jewelry, he looked at me with a proud smile and gave me a jar filled with amber. I didn’t really care much for amber, thought of it as a bit old and grim, and rejected the gift. He looked at me as only a dad can, and asked, “Can’t you make something of it, and change your perspective?” And so I took the jar, wanting to prove to my dad that I could.

That’s how wette mille came to life, with a gift and a little parental challenge. Since then wette mille has become a form of communication for me, the trust between my hands and the tools creating a glimpse of what’s on my mind.

wette mille is a part of me, Mette, and will grow and change with me, not radically, but slowly just like each day takes the next and suddenly a year has passed.
